AI Integration Transforms Mongolia-China Media Cooperation

Date:

The 15th Mongolia-China Media Forum highlighted AI integration as a major force in transforming journalism. Held on September 17, 2025, the forum gathered over 100 representatives from Mongolia and China. Experts emphasized that AI integration presents both opportunities and challenges for the media sector.

Organized jointly by the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists, the All-China Journalists Association, and the Media Department of Inner Mongolia, the event focused on media friendship and cooperation in the AI era. Speakers stressed that both countries must leverage technology to strengthen bilateral communication.

B. Uuganbayar, Secretary-General of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists, explained that Mongolia’s small population limits the number of skilled media professionals. He noted that AI integration can increase efficiency and productivity, particularly in television and news production. He predicted that future broadcasts might require only one person operating multiple roles with AI support.

Wu Xu, Director of the Secretariat of the All-China Journalists Association, highlighted that media acts as a bridge connecting people. She urged both sides to explore AI integration at all stages of journalism, from reporting and production to verification and distribution. She also encouraged collaboration on data sharing, ethical algorithms, and technological development to fight disinformation.

Zhang Dong, First-Level Inspector of China’s State Council Information Office, stressed that AI-driven technologies could boost cultural exchanges. He suggested localizing programs, content sharing, joint reporting, and personnel exchanges as ways to strengthen cooperation. He added that technological advancements should serve the information and cultural needs of both nations.

Urin Nyamsuren, translator and journalist at MONTSAME Mongolian National News Agency, shared examples of AI use in content production. She explained that AI-based voice conversion allows narration changes, such as transforming a female voice into that of an older man. She emphasized that AI integration increases efficiency, saves time, and accelerates media innovation. MONTSAME plans to expand AI use in future content production.

Since 2010, the Mongolia-China Media Forum has met annually to enhance journalistic cooperation. The forum has become a vital platform for exchanging ideas and technology between the two countries. Experts agreed that AI integration will continue to reshape workflows and strengthen media partnerships.

The forum concluded with a consensus that both nations should actively pursue AI integration to improve efficiency, broaden content capabilities, and enhance bilateral understanding. The next steps involve deeper collaboration, further technology adoption, and joint initiatives to face challenges posed by rapid innovation.
