Acer Expands Repair Operations with AI in Europe

Date:

Taiwanese tech company Acer is enhancing its Acer repair operations across Europe using artificial intelligence and automation. The company aims to improve efficiency while reducing the workload on staff.

Acer’s European subsidiary, Enfinitec, manages after-sales services for IT products and home appliances. The company uses Acer’s expertise in PC technology to expand services across multiple European countries.

The Wroclaw facility in southwestern Poland serves as the hub for Acer repair operations. Spanning 20,000 square meters, it also functions as a spare parts distribution center, shipping to more than 80 countries worldwide.

Enfinitec handles up to 2.5 million repairs annually. To improve this process, the company explores AI for smarter diagnostics and repair sorting. While robotic arms remain difficult due to product diversity, imaging systems combined with AI show great promise.

Enfinitec CEO Tobi Musson explained that new technologies will increase efficiency without requiring additional staff. Rather than opening new centers, the company plans to expand existing locations and add repair capacity on-site.

The company follows a hybrid operational model to balance speed and cost. Urgent in-warranty repairs are completed locally to meet retailer deadlines. Meanwhile, cost-sensitive refurbishments are centralized in Wroclaw to ensure operational efficiency.

Different product lines create unique challenges. PC motherboards demand precision handling, robotic vacuums often require cleaning, and heavy electric scooters need specialized lifting equipment.

Processing items from 1,500 brands annually reflects growing repair and refurbishment trends. Younger consumers especially drive demand, highlighting the circular economy’s importance in after-sales services. Musson emphasized that extending product lifecycles is central to this growth.

Regarding future plans, Musson confirmed a public listing remains an option. This aligns with Acer’s strategy of nurturing new business ventures and potentially pursuing IPOs to expand global reach.

Overall, Acer repair operations continue to evolve, leveraging AI and automation to enhance service quality and meet rising European demand.
