AI Drive Fuels Tunghai University’s AI Drive to Full Enrollment

Date:

Tunghai University has achieved full enrollment across all admission channels for the first time in its 70-year history. This milestone comes as the university’s AI drive transforms its academic programs and campus facilities. Located in Taichung, the school is capitalizing on the AI boom by integrating artificial intelligence deeply into its curriculum.

The university launched a series of initiatives to boost its technology and educational resources. For example, it built a new AI technology center and started collaborative programs with international tech companies. Additionally, Tunghai partnered with Nvidia to establish an AI university and created a robotics education platform. These efforts significantly enhance student learning opportunities.

University President Chang Kuo-en emphasized the importance of the AI drive in reshaping the school’s future. Chang also highlighted ongoing collaborations with global institutions like Georgia Tech in the United States and Assumption University in Thailand. These partnerships aim to enrich academic offerings and foster innovation. Moreover, the university is strengthening its ties with industry leaders to prepare students for real-world challenges.

Donations from notable alumni played a crucial role in enabling this growth. Inventec founder Lee Shih-chin contributed NT$10 million worth of servers to support the AI center. Meanwhile, US-based alumnus Lai Cheng-chiu funded a dedicated AI PC classroom. Fubon Group Chair Tsai Ming-chung helped upgrade dormitory facilities to improve student life. Alumni groups also raised more than NT$14 million in just one week to support AI teaching resources.

Thanks to the AI drive, almost all 40 academic departments filled their quotas this year. Graduate programs, including master’s and doctoral studies, also reached record enrollment numbers. This surge reflects growing student interest in AI and technology-related fields.

As Tunghai celebrates its 70th anniversary, President Chang envisions the university evolving into a century-old institution with renewed vigor and global competitiveness. The ongoing AI drive will continue to propel Tunghai University toward a vibrant and innovative future.
