The Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts is currently hosting a remarkable solo exhibition titled “The World of Juraan.”This show features stunning bronze sculptures created by N. Lkhagvasuren, a freelance artist and respected member of the Union of Mongolian Artists. In fact, the exhibition displays nearly 30 bronze pieces, each reflecting the artist’s deep dedication and creative vision.
During the opening ceremony, Honored Cultural Figure and cartoonist Tsogtbayar Samandari shared his thoughts about Lkhagvasuren’s work. He described the artist as a modern nomad who carries the memory and heritage of Mongolia’s nomadic people. Moreover, Samandari emphasized that Lkhagvasuren is a spiritual nomad. He persistently searches for new ideas and methods, continuously transforming his artistic style.
Lkhagvasuren devoted over seven years to crafting the bronze sculptures using the casting technique. Indeed, each piece represents countless hours of meticulous work and attention to detail. What makes his story more captivating is the source of his inspiration. The artist explained that watching his dog, Chico, sparked his decision to fully embrace sculpture. Thus, this simple moment ignited his passion for a demanding art form that requires significant time and financial investment.
Despite the challenges, Lkhagvasuren remains motivated. In fact, he revealed that he is already working on new projects and is eager to continue exploring the possibilities of bronze sculpture. His commitment to his craft shines through every work on display.
The title of the exhibition, “The World of Juraan,” carries personal meaning for the artist. It comes from a childhood nickname given by his family. Furthermore, Lkhagvasuren did not intend to embed a specific concept or theme in the title. Instead, it reflects a part of his identity and history that he wanted to share with the public through his art.
Moreover, this exhibition is supported by the informal group called “Better to Open Your Own Chest than to Search Others.” This group champions national creators and aims to provide backing for artists like Lkhagvasuren who work passionately in Mongolia’s art scene.
Visitors therefore have the opportunity to experience “The World of Juraan” through the unique bronze sculptures on display. The exhibition remains open for several more days, inviting art lovers and the general public to explore the blend of tradition and innovation captured in every piece. Ultimately, the event is a testament to Lkhagvasuren’s talent and the vibrant contemporary art landscape in Mongolia.
