Building Innovation on the Belt and Road

Date:

China will host the 2nd Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange in Chengdu from June 10 to 12. Delegates from over 100 countries and international groups will attend, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology. Officials expect this event to advance Belt and Road science cooperation and promote shared technological progress. The conference will feature dialogues on innovation, youth engagement, and policy exchange. Organizers said the turnout reflects growing momentum behind Belt and Road science cooperation.

Vice Minister Chen Jiachang emphasized the conference’s goal of supporting global scientific development. He said the event aligns with China’s vision of a shared future for humanity. Moreover, the conference will advance the International Science and Technology Cooperation Initiative. It will also promote synergy between academic institutions and industrial innovators. Belt and Road science cooperation will remain central to China’s international engagement.

Organizers announced plans to launch major scientific programs led by Chinese researchers. They will also unveil joint research platforms and international technology transfer hubs. Many countries will sign bilateral science agreements during the three-day event. According to Chen, these efforts will deepen Belt and Road science cooperation and encourage long-term collaboration. He said cooperation will stretch across fields like healthcare, clean energy, and climate research.

The conference will introduce tools to promote sustainable development and reduce poverty. Officials plan to release a catalog of practical technologies for BRI countries. They will also showcase scenarios using advanced tools in daily life. These initiatives aim to ensure the benefits of innovation reach diverse communities. Ultimately, Belt and Road science cooperation will drive inclusive growth across regions.

This year’s conference is jointly organized by national and provincial bodies. Key co-hosts include the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Sichuan Provincial Government. They will work with Chongqing and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. According to Chen, China now partners with 160 countries in scientific cooperation. He said China encourages its scientists to collaborate globally through various research exchanges and joint initiatives. Belt and Road science cooperation, he said, is a bridge to global innovation.
