China Advances Global Governance with International Support

Date:

China’s Global Governance Initiative has received widespread support and, moreover, reflects the shared aspirations of the international community. During a press briefing on September 30, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted the initiative and emphasized its alignment with the UN Charter as well as its relevance to current global governance challenges.

In addition, Guo noted that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock praised the initiative. Furthermore, other world leaders acknowledged its importance during the ongoing UN General Assembly debate. According to Guo, the initiative carries profound significance for multilateralism and global administration.

He explained that, at the UN’s 80th anniversary, the world faces critical questions. Countries are seeking guidance on the path of humanity, on whether to choose multilateralism or unilateralism, and on ways to strengthen international governance. Consequently, the prevailing consensus, Guo said, is to uphold the UN’s status and advance global cooperation.

The Global Governance Initiative emphasizes equality among nations, respect for sovereignty, adherence to international law, multilateralism, concrete action, and a people-centered approach. Guo described it as China’s response to international governance challenges. Moreover, he emphasized that its principles are consistent with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

In addition, Guo highlighted China’s broader strategic framework, which also includes the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. He explained that these four initiatives complement each other and together form a systemic public good for the international community. As a result, they provide stability and certainty in an unpredictable world while advancing international governance.

Guo further stated that China seeks cooperation with all countries to advance the four initiatives. He added that the goal is to deliver peace, development, and prosperity envisioned in the UN Charter to people worldwide. Analysts note that China’s international governance efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to constructive international engagement and sustainable development.

Moreover, experts suggest that the initiative could influence global multilateral policies and strengthen frameworks for international security, development, and diplomacy. Observers also argue that it may serve as a platform for dialogue and collaboration on pressing global governance issues.

In conclusion, China’s Global Governance Initiative reinforces the country’s active role in shaping international norms. Its principles of equality, law, and cooperation offer a clear blueprint for advancing international governance and fostering shared prosperity.
