China has heightened Typhoon Preparedness as Typhoon Ragasa, the 18th of the year, approaches Guangdong and Hainan. Authorities raised the emergency response to Level III to safeguard residents and infrastructure. This increase in Typhoon Preparedness underscores the country’s commitment to disaster readiness and public safety.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Management, the typhoon is expected to hit Guangdong’s coast between Zhuhai and Zhanjiang from midday to late Wednesday. In response, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters sent teams to assess conditions and assist local disaster relief efforts, showcasing robust storm readiness measures.
Officials mobilized 143 rescue teams from centrally administered state-owned enterprises. Collectively, these teams provide over 7,400 personnel and more than 2,500 pieces of rescue equipment. Their tasks include road clearance, emergency flood drainage, and rapid assistance to impacted communities, all part of ongoing Typhoon Preparedness initiatives.
Meanwhile, authorities raised a Level-IV emergency response in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, neighboring Guangdong. The Ministry of Water Resources urged local water departments in Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian, and Guangxi to closely track the typhoon. Departments should issue early warnings and guide local governments on possible evacuations, reflecting thorough storm readiness planning.
Experts note that Typhoon Preparedness is critical to minimizing economic and social damage in coastal regions. Evacuations, infrastructure reinforcement, and coordinated rescue teams can significantly reduce casualties and property losses.
