China Celebrates World Games Torch Relay with Culture and Sport

Date:

To begin with, China started a historic journey by launching the first-ever torch relay for the World Games. This landmark event kicked off at the iconic Sanxingdui archaeological site in Sichuan Province. Notably, organizers designed the torch relay to spotlight culture, unity, and the enduring spirit of sport.

Right from the outset, the World Games torch relay in China quickly captured public attention. In fact, leaders kindled the ceremonial flame using solar energy, which cleverly blended modern technology with ancient tradition. Moreover, Xiao Xianjin and Zhu Zhangyi led this unique moment, transforming it into a powerful symbol of cultural pride.

Immediately after the ignition, officials carefully placed the flame inside a specially designed lantern. In doing so, they ensured the flame could remain lit safely throughout the relay. Then, provincial leaders Wang Xiaohui and Shi Xiaolin stepped forward to light the main cauldron, thus officially launching the event.

Shortly thereafter, champion gymnast Huang Zhangjiayang proudly took the lead as the first torchbearer. She carried the torch named “Zhumeng,” meaning Bamboo Dream. Importantly, the torch design drew inspiration from Sanxingdui bronze art and the symbolic strength of bamboo in Chinese culture.

As the event progressed, the World Games torch relay in China continued its journey across three cities—Chengdu, Deyang, and Meishan. Along the way, the route connected six key cultural landmarks. These included Sanxingdui, Jinsha, the Giant Panda Base, Wuhou Shrine, San Su Shrine, and Xinglong Lake Wetland Park.

At each stop, the relay showcased a different dimension of Chinese heritage. For example, organizers celebrated ancient history, environmental awareness, national pride, and international friendship. Through this meaningful route, the torch relay powerfully expressed China’s cultural richness and global message.

In addition, the torchbearers came from many countries and diverse walks of life. Notably, stars like Jackie Chan and Ma Long took part. Likewise, the group featured students, scientists, panda experts, and influencers like Li Ziqi. As a result, the event felt both inclusive and inspiring.

Furthermore, the World Games torch relay in China welcomed about 150 special guests to its opening ceremony. These included international sports officials, regional leaders, and enthusiastic citizens. As the torch passed through the symbolic cultural corridor, crowds responded with cheer and excitement.

Finally, organizers planned to end the day with a closing ceremony. The last torchbearer would return the flame to the main stage, marking the event’s final moment. Ultimately, every part of the relay aimed to connect China’s deep cultural roots with the world through the unifying power of sport.
