China concluded its annual CPPCC session on Wednesday in Beijing, marking a key moment in national policy discussions. Leaders and political advisors gathered to review proposals and shape priorities for economic growth and modernization.
President Xi Jinping and other senior leaders attended the closing meeting at the Great Hall of the People. Premier Li Qiang joined Zhao Leji, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Vice President Han Zheng at the event. Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee, presided over the gathering.
Wang told delegates that the CPPCC session produced constructive discussions and practical policy recommendations. Advisors examined proposals, debated national priorities, and reviewed reports submitted by key government bodies. Participants also approved several resolutions related to the organization’s annual work reports.
More than 2,000 members attended the closing meeting after eight days of consultations and policy discussions. Advisors reviewed proposals covering economic policy, social welfare, technological development, and national governance reforms. Delegates also discussed the draft outline of China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan covering the period from 2026 to 2030.
Furthermore, the meeting adopted resolutions regarding proposal management and the Standing Committee’s annual work report. Members also reviewed a report evaluating new policy suggestions submitted by political advisors nationwide. These discussions highlighted the CPPCC session as a central platform for policy consultation and consensus building.
Participants also debated emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, aerospace technology, and advanced digital infrastructure. Advisors emphasized workforce development, skills training, and economic modernization as crucial priorities for future growth. Meanwhile, other discussions addressed demographic challenges, including improved support systems for older citizens and children.
According to official figures, advisors submitted nearly 6,000 proposals during the past year through the consultative process. Authorities accepted more than 5,000 of those proposals for formal review and implementation consideration. Government departments responded to almost all submissions, producing a response rate of nearly one hundred percent.
Advisors also organized thousands of outreach activities during the past year to gather feedback from communities. These events connected representatives with citizens from sectors including science, culture, business, and social welfare. Officials said those engagements helped policymakers better understand public concerns and development expectations.
Experts described the CPPCC session as an important mechanism for gathering perspectives from across Chinese society.
