China Guyana relations gained renewed momentum on Wednesday as Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Mohamed Irfaan Ali on his reelection as president of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Xi extended his message of goodwill and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties.
Xi highlighted that Guyana was among the earliest Caribbean nations to establish diplomatic relations with China. He noted that this early decision laid a strong foundation for a lasting partnership. Over the past 53 years, both nations have advanced cooperation steadily while maintaining political trust and mutual respect.
Moreover, Xi pointed out that practical cooperation has produced visible results in diverse sectors. Both sides have worked together on infrastructure, trade, and cultural exchanges. At the same time, their coordination in multilateral platforms has deepened, further strengthening the stability of China Guyana relations.
Xi also recalled his meeting with President Ali in Chengdu in July 2023. During that exchange, the two leaders reached significant consensus on advancing bilateral ties. Xi emphasized that these discussions created a blueprint for expanding cooperation in the coming years.
Looking ahead, Xi expressed his willingness to work closely with Ali. He stressed the importance of continuing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a framework for deeper engagement. According to Xi, joint projects under this initiative can bring lasting benefits to both nations.
In addition, Xi underscored that friendship between the two countries has always been based on equality and mutual benefit. He explained that by maintaining this principle, China Guyana relations can reach new levels of strength and stability.
Xi further stated that advancing bilateral cooperation will not only benefit both governments but also directly serve the interests of their people. He expressed confidence that expanding collaboration in trade, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges will create shared opportunities.
Ultimately, Xi’s congratulatory message reflected both respect and forward-looking ambition. By pledging to deepen strategic cooperation and elevate bilateral ties, Xi reaffirmed that China Guyana relations will continue to play an important role in regional and global development.
