A major international gathering focused on shaping a green future will begin in Shanghai this October. The World Federation of Engineering Organizations will host its 2025 General Assembly and Global Engineering Congress from October 12 to 17.
Organizers announced the theme “Engineering shapes a Green Future.” Moreover, they highlighted China’s progress in engineering and its growing role in sustainability. The event will, therefore, promote collaboration and showcase solutions for building a global green future.
In addition, the China Association for Science and Technology confirmed that more than 300 international representatives will attend. Delegates will arrive from 56 countries and regions for the six-day program. Experts believe these sessions will, in turn, inspire innovation and support a shared green future.
Furthermore, the congress will provide a platform for governments, companies, and institutions to exchange expertise. Leaders will also release a declaration and unveil the 2025 list of the world’s top 10 engineering achievements. As a result, the event will strengthen cooperation across the international engineering community.
Shanghai earned the hosting role because of its rapid rise in science and technology. The city has, in recent years, delivered major projects that highlight China’s innovation. Consequently, these achievements align with the national vision of securing a green future through engineering.
Meanwhile, industry specialists predict stronger ties between Chinese engineers and their international peers. They argue that such cooperation can accelerate breakthroughs in clean energy, digital engineering, and smart infrastructure. Each of these areas remains vital for advancing a sustainable and green future.
Officials, however, stress that engineering must align with climate goals and development needs. They see the congress as an opportunity to share strategies and tackle common challenges. In particular, delegates plan to present case studies that demonstrate practical steps toward decarbonization.
Observers also point out that the event will raise Shanghai’s reputation as a center for global dialogue. With its emphasis on a green future, the congress could, therefore, influence future policies and investment priorities.
Organizers, meanwhile, confirmed that preparations remain on schedule and expressed strong confidence in the program’s success. They emphasized that the outcomes will, above all, guide cooperation within the global engineering community.
By gathering diverse voices, the Global Engineering Congress aims to foster collaboration and inspire innovation. Above all, the discussions will highlight how engineering shapes real-world solutions for a green future.
