China Pushes Global AI Cooperation Framework

Date:

China has clearly intensified its push for global AI cooperation. At a high-profile summit in Shanghai, Premier Li Qiang urged nations to unite and develop shared governance for artificial intelligence.

To begin, he explained how AI is reshaping both economies and daily life. It now drives automation, boosts productivity, and powers core industries. Yet, he warned of increasing threats, such as job loss, bias, and data misuse. Because of these rising concerns, he called for urgent steps to build a global AI framework. According to Li, only international rules rooted in fairness can protect the world from misuse. He made it clear that global AI cooperation is essential for balanced and responsible development.

Additionally, Li noted that China has already supported this effort through bilateral and multilateral initiatives. He proposed a dedicated international body to lead these efforts, encouraging transparency and ethical progress across borders. As AI technology continues to evolve rapidly with large language models, robotics, and embodied intelligence gaining ground, Li stressed the importance of strengthening international collaboration on AI to keep pace with this acceleration.

He reminded participants that AI must remain a tool under human control. Innovation, he said, must never override ethical standards. Therefore, he called on governments to maintain a balance between technological growth and human values, a principle at the heart of any meaningful global AI cooperation. Li also offered China’s support to developing countries. He pledged to share open-source technologies, infrastructure, and AI training especially with nations in the Global South to expand their role in the global AI space.

Moreover, he encouraged joint technical research, stating that open collaboration and innovation would strengthen global AI cooperation and lead to more inclusive progress. Over 1,000 delegates from governments, academia, and tech companies attended the summit. Together, they issued an action plan focused on ethics, safety, and equitable access.

In conclusion, China now positions itself as a leading force in global AI cooperation, promoting international AI collaboration that benefits every nation.
