China-Singapore ties strengthen through new cooperation talks, as Chinese Premier Li Qiang welcomed Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Beijing on Monday. Their discussions marked another milestone in the deepening friendship between the two nations. This year also celebrates 35 years of China-Singapore diplomatic relations. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expand cooperation across key sectors.

Premier Li stressed that China views Singapore as both a trusted neighbor and a vital partner. He highlighted that China-Singapore ties strengthen through new cooperation talks guided by mutual respect and trust. The two nations will continue maintaining high-level exchanges and strategic communication. Li also emphasized building stronger political trust between Beijing and Singapore.

During the meeting, Li proposed leveraging their bilateral cooperation mechanism to its fullest potential. He outlined plans to advance the Belt and Road Initiative together. In addition, China seeks to expand flagship projects while growing two-way trade and investments. He encouraged further partnerships in emerging sectors such as digital economy, green economy, artificial intelligence, and smart cities.

Li also called for more collaboration in education, culture, tourism, and media. He underscored the importance of adhering to open regionalism and multilateralism. Furthermore, China aims to promote regional trade liberalization and support stable global supply chains. Notably, he reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with ASEAN members, including Singapore.

Singaporean Prime Minister Wong warmly echoed Li’s proposals during the talks. He stated that Singapore remains eager to maintain strong ties with China. Moreover, Wong expressed great confidence in China’s economic growth and future prospects. He outlined plans to advance joint projects such as the Suzhou Industrial Park. Wong also highlighted a keen interest in new collaborations involving biomedicine and digital technologies.

Both sides agreed on the importance of boosting regional economic integration. Wong emphasized Singapore’s readiness to help implement an upgraded China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. He also underscored support for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. China-Singapore ties strengthen through new cooperation talks aimed at fostering prosperity for both nations and the region.
