Cooperation Across All Sectors: Mongolia and New Zealand

Mongolia and New Zealand are set to strengthen cooperation across all sectors. This follows a high-level diplomatic meeting in Ulaanbaatar, highlighting growing ties between the two nations.

State Secretary of Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, warmly welcomed Jonathan Austin, New Zealand’s Ambassador to China and Ambassador-designate to Mongolia. During the meeting, State Secretary Munkhtushig presented a copy of the Letter of Credence, symbolizing formal diplomatic recognition and trust.

First, State Secretary Munkhtushig congratulated Ambassador Austin on assuming his new role. He extended greetings on the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and New Zealand. Moreover, he emphasized Mongolia’s dedication to expanding trade, education, agriculture, and economic links with New Zealand, describing them as mutually beneficial.

Ambassador Austin responded positively, expressing excitement about his appointment. He highlighted his commitment to fostering friendship and promoting cooperation across all sectors. Austin noted that he intends to build on the strong foundation of decades of bilateral relations while exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

Both officials discussed future initiatives designed to broaden their partnership. They identified priority areas including education, technology, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. Through these projects, both countries aim to create new opportunities for businesses, students, and local communities.

In addition, State Secretary Munkhtushig stressed the importance of consistent dialogue, active cooperation, and joint projects. He noted that Mongolia values New Zealand as a partner in global initiatives, regional development, and multilateral efforts. Similarly, Ambassador Austin reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to long-term engagement, shared prosperity, and deepening bilateral ties.

The meeting underscored a mutual desire to further deepen cooperation across all sectors. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding partnerships, launching innovative programs, and sharing expertise. They agreed to continue working closely to ensure that diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations remain strong and dynamic.
