COP17 Preparations Advance at National Park for UNCCD Summit

Date:

Mongolia is actively preparing to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17). The event will run from August 17 to 28, 2026. As the date approaches, COP17 preparations advance at National Park, the chosen venue for the summit.

First, the National Committee, led by Minister of Environment and Climate Change Mr. Batbaatar Bat, recently visited National Park to inspect the site. The committee manages all conference preparations and approved the location through a City Council resolution. Therefore, National Park, owned by the municipality, will host the main activities during COP17.

Moreover, the COP17 Investment and Development Office, under Director B. Battulga, announced detailed development plans. The National Park covers 920 hectares, and the office has designated almost 30 hectares for COP17 preparations. Within this area, they plan to build on 5.6 hectares. The project will include 930 parking spaces and 20 temporary buildings to support delegates and staff.

In addition, the construction team will begin roadwork and building projects later this year. Meanwhile, engineers have already started installing water supply systems and telecommunication channels. These upgrades will help international guests and organizers operate efficiently and comfortably.

Furthermore, Minister Batbaatar Bat recently received updates on the preparations from key officials. Advisor to the Minister, Mr. D. Batmunkh, and COP17 Preparatory Department Head, Ms. D. Ariuntuya, shared progress reports during their on-site meeting. They discussed important operational details to ensure smooth management of the event.

Overall, COP17 preparations advance at National Park through strong coordination and clear goals. Mongolia shows its dedication to successfully hosting the 2026 UNCCD conference. As infrastructure development continues on schedule, the venue will soon welcome world leaders focused on combating desertification.

Additionally, Mongolia’s efforts underline its commitment to addressing global environmental challenges. The country is transforming National Park into a world-class facility ready to host international delegates. Consequently, the conference will emphasize sustainable land management and environmental protection.

To sum up, COP17 preparations advance at National Park with focused planning and teamwork. The government and organizers remain on track to deliver a high-quality event. They look forward to engaging with the global community and sharing solutions for desertification.
