Dylan Wang Returns to Xianxia in New Fantasy Drama

Date:

Dylan Wang returns to xianxia in a new historical fantasy series titled Live Long and Prosper, which began filming on April 30. This marks his third major role in the genre, following the success of Love Between Fairy and Devil and Guardians of the Dafeng. Once again, he plays a hero caught between destiny and desire.

This time, Wang plays Song Qianji, a cultivator who once gave everything to protect the world. In his new life, he wants nothing more than peace. However, the chaos he once tried to escape pulls him back into conflict. He must confront his past mistakes, unfinished business, and a fate that refuses to let him go.

Meanwhile, Li Qin joins the cast as Miao Yan, a mysterious immortal who shares a troubled history with Wang’s character. She brings both poise and power to the screen. Their tense relationship drives the emotional heart of the story.

Rounding out the cast are Rong Zishan, Wang Duo, Zhang Yaqin, Xia Meng, Wu Xize, and Ye Shengjia. These actors, some veterans and others rising stars, add texture to a drama rich with conflict, ambition, and romance.

Director Ding Hei leads the production with a steady hand. He is known for balancing large ensemble casts without losing the human thread. Scriptwriter Rao Jun, praised for The Journey of Flower and Ancient Love Poetry, promises a story both poetic and grounded.

Visually, the drama blends Ming dynasty settings with fantasy elements. The crew uses practical effects and real locations to enhance authenticity. Each scene builds the feeling of a world shaped by both magic and memory.

Dylan Wang returns to xianxia with a fresh approach. His new role pushes past typical tropes, introducing a reluctant hero who carries both scars and humor. The script gives him space to explore vulnerability and strength without losing momentum.

In turn, Li Qin’s character moves beyond the traditional love interest. Miao Yan is layered, morally complex, and shaped by pain. Her journey mirrors Song Qianji’s as they grapple with forgiveness and sacrifice.

The series also stresses themes of personal choice. Even when fate intervenes, characters must take ownership of their paths. This idea runs through the dialogue, the action, and the romantic tension.

As Dylan Wang returns to xianxia, audiences can expect more than a typical love story. The drama seeks to explore what happens when heroes question their roles. It asks whether one can truly escape the past—or if redemption only comes by facing it head-on.

The production is set to last around 150 days, with the premiere targeted for summer 2026. Fans of xianxia will likely appreciate the rich storytelling and philosophical depth. However, even casual viewers may find something compelling in its blend of action, magic, and emotion.

In short, Live Long and Prosper stands poised to redefine the fantasy genre. Dylan Wang returns to xianxia not with swords alone, but with questions—and a determination to answer them.
