Education Infrastructure Expands in Ulaanbaatar

Date:

The Metropolitan Department of Education in Ulaanbaatar is rapidly improving education infrastructure across the city. This initiative focuses on increasing access to quality learning environments. Moreover, it reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure. These projects aim to create inclusive and modern facilities that benefit students of all ages throughout the capital.

This year, the department launched 139 projects, including 43 schools, 67 kindergartens, and 22 integrated primary school–kindergarten complexes. These efforts follow the Education Sector Mid-Term Development Plan, which guides investments and ensures equitable access to education from 2021 to 2030. Furthermore, the plan emphasizes early childhood education and modern learning approaches in every facility.

According to the Governor’s Office of the Capital City, city officials fund the construction of schools, kindergartens, and educational facilities through multiple sources. State funds, city and district budgets, international loans, and foreign aid all contribute to these projects. Consequently, this funding approach supports timely progress and ensures long-term sustainability.

In 2025, the education sector plans to open 12 secondary schools, providing 8,080 student placements. Additionally, 24 kindergartens will offer 3,930 early childhood education spots. Eleven integrated primary school–kindergarten complexes will accommodate 3,080 children. These new facilities demonstrate how focusing on education infrastructure addresses growing enrollment demands and enhances learning conditions.

So far, the city has already opened seven schools, 19 kindergartens, seven integrated complexes, and one multipurpose sports facility. Officials plan to bring five more schools, five kindergartens, four integrated complexes, and one additional sports hall into operation before year-end. By ensuring timely completion, the government demonstrates its commitment to improving education infrastructure across Ulaanbaatar.

Overall, these projects highlight a long-term vision to modernize learning spaces and expand access to quality education. Investing in education infrastructure guarantees that children and young adults enjoy safe, well-equipped, and inclusive learning environments. By continuing these efforts, Ulaanbaatar strengthens its education system and supports future generations.
