FEALAC Cooperation Strengthened at 10th Foreign Meeting

Date:

The 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation, known as FEALAC Cooperation, is now underway in Ulaanbaatar. This event marks a milestone, as the forum celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Consequently, delegates from 16 East Asian and Pacific countries and 20 Latin American nations have gathered to discuss future collaboration.

On August 20, 2025, the FEALAC Foundation Board of Directors met, followed by the Political, Cultural, Economic, and Humanitarian Working Groups. These meetings form a vital part of the anniversary celebrations. Moreover, they set the stage for discussions under the theme, “25 Years and Beyond: A Vision for East Asia-Latin American Cooperation.” This theme highlights the forum’s ongoing commitment to strengthening FEALAC Cooperation.

In addition, Mongolia and the Dominican Republic are co-chairing the forum for the 2025-2027 term. This leadership role adds significance to this year’s meeting. Notably, this is the first Foreign Ministers’ Meeting since 2019. Therefore, the gathering has generated high expectations among member countries.

The meeting will continue through August 22. During this time, members plan to adopt the “Ulaanbaatar Declaration,” which aims to deepen ties in many areas. For instance, the declaration focuses on expanding political dialogue, economic partnerships, and humanitarian cooperation. As a result, it promises to advance FEALAC Cooperation significantly.

Furthermore, the forum’s various working groups ensure comprehensive discussions across sectors. They provide a platform to address shared challenges and opportunities. At the same time, the meeting fosters cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the regions.

Consequently, ministers emphasize the importance of maintaining open communication channels. They believe that this will enhance trade relations and strengthen political and social bonds. Overall, the 10th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting showcases renewed commitment to building a robust partnership between East Asia and Latin America.

By convening in Ulaanbaatar, FEALAC Cooperation once again demonstrates its relevance and growing influence. Looking ahead, members are eager to build on past successes and shape a dynamic future.
