German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived in Beijing on Monday to advance China Germany relations amid a wave of European diplomatic visits. His trip emphasizes the importance of high-level engagement and mutual cooperation.
Upon arrival, Wadephul met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. Han highlighted that China and Germany are key economic partners, noting that collaboration can deliver win-win results. Following the meetings, Wadephul held a press briefing on trade, climate cooperation, and the Ukraine conflict. He confirmed that Chancellor Friedrich Merz plans to visit Beijing in early 2026 to deepen ties further.
