GMI Cloud AI Data Center Planned

Date:

GMI Cloud AI will expand Taiwan’s artificial intelligence infrastructure with a new NT$15.6 billion (US$500 million) data center. The company announced the project on Monday, highlighting its role in advancing AI technology.

The facility, expected to open by March, will house around 7,000 GPUs across 96 high-density racks. It will process nearly 2 million tokens per second while using about 16 megawatts of power.

Founder and CEO Alex Yeh said Taiwan needs more data centers as strategic assets. He noted that high AI demand keeps GMI Cloud’s GPU usage nearly full.

Yeh added that the Taiwan project could generate NT$32.21 billion in total contract value once operational. He also mentioned plans for a potential initial public offering within two to three years.

The data center will use Nvidia’s Blackwell GB300 chips to maximize processing power and efficiency. Analysts said the project aligns with a global surge in AI infrastructure investment.

Other AI projects in Taiwan include a joint data center by Foxconn and Nvidia, announced earlier this year. Experts said these developments strengthen Taiwan’s role in regional AI technology.

GMI Cloud, a GPU-as-a-Service provider and Nvidia cloud partner, operates data centers in the US, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Japan. The company also plans a 50-megawatt facility in the United States.

Specialists highlighted that GMI Cloud AI’s expansion boosts Taiwan’s technological competitiveness. The facility may attract research, cloud services, and corporate AI partnerships.

Looking ahead, GMI Cloud will integrate the new center with existing operations to optimize GPU use and support AI applications across sectors.

The project demonstrates how private investment complements Taiwan’s strategic technology initiatives. GMI Cloud AI reinforces innovation and regional leadership in artificial intelligence.
