External Forces Remarks Rejected by HKSAR Government

Date:

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government strongly rejected external forces remarks regarding the case of Jimmy Lai Chee-ying. In the introduction, officials made clear that these external forces remarks distort facts and aim to smear Hong Kong’s legal system. Moreover, officials rejected the allegations about Lai’s treatment under the national security law as unfounded.

According to the government statement, the intention behind these comments is to attack the HKSAR and damage its reputation. Therefore, officials stated that such political moves deserve condemnation to protect judicial integrity. They also emphasized that commenting on ongoing proceedings could interfere with the court’s independence and potentially obstruct justice.

In addition, a government spokesperson criticized anti-China media for continuing to spread false narratives. These narratives, the spokesperson said, glorify criminal actions and attempt to pressure Hong Kong’s judiciary. Furthermore, the Correctional Services Department (CSD) reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring all persons-in-custody receive safe, humane, and healthy conditions. This includes proper ventilation and timely medical care for all inmates, regardless of identity or nationality.

Furthermore, Lai’s own legal representative confirmed that he has consistently received appropriate treatment in prison. Despite this, external forces choose to ignore verified information and persist with politically motivated accusations. As a result, the HKSAR government condemned these actions as malicious and misleading.

Additionally, authorities clarified that Lai’s request to remain separate from other inmates was made voluntarily. The CSD approved this arrangement after reviewing relevant legal and safety considerations. Therefore, claims about forced solitary confinement are false and intended to mislead.

The government reiterated that these external forces remarks misrepresent the situation to serve hidden agendas. Consequently, officials vowed to continue addressing such distortions with transparency and adherence to legal standards. They also warned that any attempts to twist facts about Lai’s detention will be met with firm rebuttals.

By firmly responding to these allegations, the HKSAR government aims to safeguard its judicial processes. Finally, officials stressed the importance of basing all discussions on verified facts rather than politically driven narratives. The case, they added, should proceed without interference to maintain the rule of law in Hong Kong.
