The Mongolian National Olympic Committee recently held its annual ceremony focused on honoring sporting excellence throughout the country. During the event, the committee recognized athletes, coaches, and teams for their efforts in advancing sports and promoting Olympic values. President Battushig Batbold personally presented the awards and emphasized the importance of honoring sporting excellence to motivate young athletes nationwide. Otganbaatar Chultem, a pioneering figure in Mongolian sports journalism, received special recognition for his decades of work. As a former president of the Mongolian Sports Journalists Association, he strengthened professional standards and promoted Olympic values through media. Furthermore, he actively develops modern pentathlon, showing how honoring sporting excellence goes beyond performance to inspire broader sporting initiatives.
Similarly, Kherlen Bazarsuren, an international volleyball master and head coach of both the national women’s team and “Darkhan Moguls” major league club, received recognition. Raised in a sports-oriented family, she followed her mother’s athletic career and began coaching through JICA’s guidance. Moreover, she combines international methods with local practices, shaping the next generation of volleyball athletes. The Mongolian women’s national 3×3 basketball team also gained recognition for winning a silver medal at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Ulaanbaatar. Team members Khulan Onolbaatar, Solongo Bayasgalan, Munkhsaikhan Tserenlkham, and Enkhjin Tuvshinjargal impressed the audience with their skill and teamwork. This achievement marked Mongolia’s first global team sport medal and further demonstrated how honoring sporting excellence encourages high-level performance in emerging disciplines.
