The Imaichi Ryuji incident has come under the spotlight following reports of alleged intimidation and assault involving the vocalist of Sandaime J Soul Brothers. On July 31, Tokyo Metropolitan Police received a referral regarding Imaichi Ryuji, 38, accusing him of threatening and physically assaulting a taxi driver. This development has caused significant public concern, especially due to the serious nature of the claims.
According to the victim’s legal representative, the taxi driver did not provoke or argue with Imaichi at any point. The lawyer stressed that there was no evidence showing any dispute about the destination or route taken. Furthermore, the driver never resisted or responded aggressively to Imaichi’s behavior. The victim faced one-sided intimidation and physical aggression, without any wrongdoing on his part.
The victim’s attorney also clarified that the taxi driver never demanded money or compensation from Imaichi or his talent agency. Additionally, the victim reported the incident to the police on the same day it happened, prior to consulting legal counsel. While Imaichi has issued an apology and offered a settlement through his lawyer, no agreement has yet been reached.
In response, LDH, Imaichi’s management company, issued a public statement addressing the incident. They explained that the trouble started in early April when Imaichi, while intoxicated, got into an argument with a friend who was also a passenger in the taxi. LDH admitted that Imaichi engaged in unacceptable behavior, including violent verbal and physical abuse, both inside and outside the vehicle.
LDH expressed sincere apologies to the taxi driver and all affected parties. Despite the situation involving a disagreement between Imaichi and his friend, LDH acknowledged the distress caused to the third party, the driver. The company confirmed that Imaichi apologized directly to the taxi company and reached a settlement with them. LDH thanked the taxi company for their understanding and patience during the process.
To address the issue seriously, LDH held a compliance committee meeting. They decided on strict disciplinary measures, including the return of Imaichi’s pay and placing him under house arrest. Imaichi is reportedly reflecting deeply on his behavior every day. LDH pledged to strengthen compliance awareness and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Finally, LDH emphasized their commitment to protecting the privacy of the taxi driver and related parties. They aim to restore trust with fans, clients, and everyone affected by the incident. The company once again apologized sincerely for the distress and inconvenience caused by the Imaichi Ryuji incident.
