Inclusive K-Pop Duo Big Ocean JJ to Debut at Global Summit

Date:

Inclusive K-pop continues to break new ground as Big Ocean, the first deaf K-pop idol group, launches its first subunit. The new duo, Big Ocean JJ, features members PJ and Jiseok. They will release their debut single “Bucket Hat” on July 9, marking a milestone in their journey.

According to Parastar Entertainment, Big Ocean JJ will reveal the new track at the “AI for Good” Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. This prestigious event, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union, aims to explore the positive uses of AI across various fields.

The group received an invitation to perform because of their innovative use of AI technology in music. Specifically, the summit organizers praised their integration of SVC (Singer Voice Conversion) — a voice-matching AI that helps convert spoken words into song. This application stands out as a powerful example of inclusive K-pop embracing new technology.

“Bucket Hat” is a fun, upbeat track inspired by the early 2000s. The single blends groove-heavy instrumentals with the duo’s signature sign language rap. As always, their performance emphasizes accessibility while pushing musical boundaries. PJ and Jiseok will also creatively use a bucket hat prop to enhance their stage presence.

Teaser images show both artists dressed in bold streetwear. They wear matching black bucket hats and shirts featuring traditional Korean patterns. These visuals showcase their identity and cultural pride while staying stylish and modern.

After their unit debut, Big Ocean plans to continue its “Underwater” world tour. The group will perform across Europe and the United States in the coming months. This tour represents another step in redefining inclusive K-pop for international audiences.

As inclusive K-pop gains global recognition, Big Ocean’s new subunit proves that accessibility and artistry can thrive together. Their debut at a global summit highlights the potential of music, technology, and representation working hand in hand.
