Itzy returns with ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ album on June 9

Date:

Itzy returns with Girls Will Be Girls, their next album, on June 9, as confirmed by JYP Entertainment on Monday. The group revealed the comeback through a cinematic trailer that quickly ignited buzz across fan communities and social media. In the teaser, the members attempt to revive Ryujin, who collapses dramatically, hinting at emotional and narrative depth. JYP’s head producer Park Jin-young appears unexpectedly, further increasing anticipation for the concept. Itzy returns with Girls Will Be Girls to build on recent success and reconnect with fans worldwide.

This comeback follows eight months after Itzy released their ninth EP, Gold, which climbed to No. 60 on Billboard 200. That record featured two title tracks and showcased their evolving sound to a global audience. Billboard selected Imaginary Friend, one of the lead songs, among the 25 best K-pop tracks of 2024. Critics highlighted the track’s emotional lyrics and powerful production as standout elements. Now, Itzy returns with Girls Will Be Girls to continue exploring bold themes and expressive storytelling.

The group has grown significantly since their 2019 debut, gaining attention for fierce choreography and empowering messages. Each release has demonstrated confidence and creativity, earning them recognition in a competitive K-pop market. While fans await the full tracklist, many expect themes of friendship, strength, and resilience. The dramatic visuals in the teaser already suggest a layered concept that speaks to shared experiences. With this release, Itzy aims to expand their artistry and global appeal further.

Meanwhile, members have actively explored solo opportunities that showcase personal artistry and growth. Yeji, the group’s leader, launched her first solo EP, Air, in March and received praise for her vocal maturity. She became the first member to go solo, revealing a softer and more introspective style. Her solo activities contributed to heightened expectations for the group’s future direction. These individual ventures signal that the upcoming album may carry new emotional and creative depth.

Fans worldwide have already begun preparing for the comeback, fueling excitement through fan art, discussions, and early promotions. JYP will likely open pre-orders soon and release additional teaser content before the album drops. Although the label has not confirmed tour plans, fans expect live performances on Korean and global stages. Promotional events could follow both online and in-person, drawing interest from longtime and new fans. Itzy returns with Girls Will Be Girls ready to redefine their legacy in K-pop’s evolving landscape.
