Japan Urges Restraint on Iran-Israel Tensions During High-Level Diplomatic Talks

Date:

Japan urges restraint on Iran-Israel tensions amid escalating conflict across the Middle East. Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya held phone talks Monday with his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

Iwaya stressed the importance of calm and responsibility. He told Araghchi that all parties must exercise “utmost restraint” to avoid further escalation. The Japanese Foreign Ministry released a statement following their discussion.

He expressed “deep concern” over the spreading attacks in the Middle East. He also warned against any actions that could deepen the conflict. Iwaya emphasized that preventing further regional destabilization should be a shared priority.

In response, Araghchi explained Tehran’s position and recent military decisions. He also pledged Iran’s cooperation in protecting Japanese citizens living in Iran. That promise follows Japan’s long-standing ties with Iran and its citizens’ safety concerns.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to regular communication. Both agreed to maintain close contact through diplomatic channels. They also expressed hope for peace and stability in the region through continued dialogue.

Japan urges restraint on Iran-Israel tensions not only due to its diplomatic principles but also because of national energy interests. Japan relies heavily on crude oil imports from the Middle East. Any disruption threatens Japan’s economic security.

The urgency of the call followed Israel’s airstrikes last Friday. Israel claimed to have targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites. Iran retaliated with missile strikes. These actions have raised international alarm and drawn responses from several world leaders.

Japan, known for maintaining balanced relations in the region, aims to act as a mediator. It continues to engage with both sides to support dialogue over confrontation.

Although Japan is geographically distant, its strategic interests are closely tied to Middle Eastern stability. Iwaya reiterated that the safety of Japanese nationals remains a top priority.

Japan urges restraint on Iran-Israel tensions as part of a broader diplomatic effort. It seeks to lower regional risks while encouraging peaceful resolutions. Officials plan to hold further discussions in the coming days to prevent wider conflict.

Japan’s balanced approach reflects both concern and commitment to international peace.
