Kaohsiung-based Kolead Aerospace will present its military drones at the Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition. The company displays its advanced systems from Thursday to Saturday. Military drones take a leading role, showing Taiwan’s growing defense capabilities.
This year’s expo features more than 400 exhibitors from 14 countries, the largest in its history. Attendees will explore unmanned aerial and maritime systems, encrypted communications, and sustainable aviation fuel. Additionally, the organizers host forums on space technology, satellite security, and communications innovations. These sessions provide insights into cutting-edge trends shaping the defense sector.
Kolead Aerospace distributes Teledyne FLIR’s military-grade infrared systems and United Rotorcraft’s firefighting helicopters exclusively in Taiwan. Moreover, the company maintains F-16 fighter jets and T700 engines. Military drones form the core of its exhibition display, highlighting the company’s growing technological capabilities.
The company highlights the Teledyne FLIR SkyCarrier, an autonomous drone launch and recovery system. Visitors can see it mounted on vehicles or boats. Kolead also demonstrates the SkyRanger R70 drone, equipped with surveillance and reconnaissance modules. Furthermore, the R70 can operate tethered for power and signal, making it ideal for coastal patrols, disaster search missions, and border surveillance operations.
The SkyRanger R70 can coordinate up to 16 drones in a single mission. It includes military-grade sensors, anti-jamming technology, and enhanced endurance and payload capacity. Moreover, it has proven reliable in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. These features underscore Taiwan’s commitment to advanced defense technologies.
Kolead also showcases the Teledyne FLIR HDC MR high-definition surveillance system. It protects borders, troops, and critical infrastructure. The device uses AI for long-range identification and automatic target tracking. Additionally, visitors can see the Recon V and Recon VUL handheld thermal binoculars. These devices provide clear images in low-light conditions, supporting nighttime reconnaissance.
Military drones and related technologies reflect Taiwan’s ability to integrate advanced aerial solutions into its defense strategy. Experts note that demonstrating such systems strengthens Taiwan’s position in global defense markets. Consequently, military drones will remain a key focus in future exhibitions. Furthermore, the company plans to expand its offerings and collaborate with international partners.
