The Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection recently held a crucial meeting with a major development partner in Mongolia. Minister Aubakir Telukhan met with the Country Director of the partner organization and other senior officials to discuss ongoing and upcoming projects. Their shared focus was on enhancing social protection systems and strengthening the labor sector across the country.
For many years, the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection has worked closely with this partner. Together, they have launched numerous initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable populations. During the meeting, both sides exchanged detailed updates on current bilateral projects. Furthermore, they explored promising new avenues for cooperation. They emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum and scaling up successful programs to reach more beneficiaries.
A significant part of the discussion revolved around efforts to improve accessibility and service delivery for socially vulnerable groups. Specifically, the meeting highlighted projects supporting persons with disabilities, as well as initiatives developing elderly care services. Consequently, these projects have delivered tangible results, demonstrating measurable progress in expanding social support systems across Mongolia.
In addition, both parties acknowledged the positive impact of a recent social protection project. This project includes an innovative program designed to help lift people out of poverty through a “graduation” approach. Moreover, Minister Aubakir Telukhan expressed sincere appreciation for the successes achieved to date. He noted that these efforts have created meaningful change.
Looking ahead, the Minister proposed several new initiatives to advance social and economic inclusion. Among these are short-term practical training programs for youth targeting high-demand occupations. In addition, he recommended expanding support and training for start-up businesses led by persons with disabilities, unemployed individuals, and low-income groups. Also, increasing employment opportunities for rural youth and improving women’s participation in the workforce were identified as key priorities.
In response, the partner organization’s Country Director affirmed strong commitment to support these initiatives. She expressed readiness to collaborate closely on high-impact programs that align with the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection’s strategic goals.
