Date:

President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa of Mongolia has started a major state visit to India. This visit marks 70 years of Mongolia India Relations. It takes place from October 13 to 16, 2025. Notably, India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited President Khurelsukh. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation and explore new ways to work together.

During the visit, the two leaders will meet and discuss ways to deepen ties. Moreover, they plan to issue a Joint Statement to boost their strategic partnership. Additionally, they expect to sign about 10 new agreements. These deals will improve the legal and cooperative framework between the two countries.

President Khurelsukh will also honor Mahatma Gandhi by laying a wreath at Raj Ghat. Furthermore, he will plant a commemorative tree with Prime Minister Modi. The visit will include unveiling a special postage stamp celebrating 70 years of diplomatic ties.

Mongolia and India first established diplomatic relations on December 24, 1955. Both countries appointed ambassadors in 1956. Mongolia opened its embassy in New Delhi that same year. Later, India opened its embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1971. Since then, their relationship has grown steadily.

Key milestones in Mongolia India Relations include the 1973 Joint Declaration. In 2009, they agreed on a Comprehensive Partnership. Then, they upgraded this to a Strategic Partnership in 2015. So far, the two nations have signed nearly 60 agreements on various issues. These cover economic cooperation, visa policies, air services, and animal health.

The visit also features a Mongolia-India Business Forum aimed at boosting trade. In addition, cultural events titled “The Beautiful Country of Mongolia” will showcase photography and the traditional Morin Khuur instrument. These activities highlight their cultural bonds.

Experts see this visit as a major step for Mongolia India Relations. It builds trust and opens new doors for trade, culture, and security cooperation. Both countries aim to expand collaboration in technology, infrastructure, and education. As the visit ends, officials expect stronger ties and more strategic alignment. Overall, the 70th anniversary provides a strong base for a closer, future-focused partnership.
