Mongolia celebrated National Pride Day on November 21, 2025, honoring the 863rd Anniversary of Chinggis Khaan’s birth. The event highlighted the enduring Chinggis Khaan legacy and Mongolia’s unity.
In the capital, the Armed Forces’ Unit 032 and the State Special Security Forces raised the national flag and honored the State Nine White Banners at Sukhbaatar Square. A brass band performed the national anthem during the ceremony.
President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav, and State Great Khural Chairman Uchral Nyam-Osor paid tribute to the statue of Chinggis Khaan in front of the State Palace. Their participation emphasized the lasting Chinggis Khaan legacy and inspired national pride.
President Khurelsukh awarded the Order of Chinggis Khaan, Mongolia’s highest state honor, to several distinguished individuals. Recipients included those who strengthened Mongolia’s sovereignty, advanced democratic and humanitarian values, and promoted social progress. The award also recognized contributions to preserving and transmitting Mongolian culture, history, and statehood traditions for future generations.
The celebrations extended beyond official ceremonies. Traditional wrestling competitions, a gala concert, and a cultural exhibition showcased Mongolia’s history and vibrant culture. These events engaged citizens and highlighted the importance of national heritage.
National Pride Day has been a public holiday since 2012. The holiday occurs on the first day of the first winter month in the lunar calendar, coinciding with Chinggis Khaan’s birth anniversary. Government officials and citizens continue to emphasize the Chinggis Khaan legacy during annual observances.
Experts note that events like National Pride Day strengthen Mongolia’s national identity and cultural cohesion. They encourage younger generations to appreciate the historical significance of Chinggis Khaan’s leadership.
Looking forward, officials aim to expand educational and cultural programs that connect citizens to Mongolia’s rich history. National Pride Day serves as both a remembrance of the past and a platform for reinforcing civic values in the present.
