Mongolia and UNIDO Sign New 2025–2027 Development Program to Expand Industrial Cooperation

Date:

Industrial cooperation took another step forward as Mongolia and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization signed a new three-year program in Vienna. The agreement outlines joint priorities to accelerate national industry, improve food security, and expand green manufacturing initiatives.

Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh met with UNIDO Deputy Director General Yuko Yasunaga during her official visit. Both sides confirmed that the new Country Programme aligns with Mongolia’s long-term development strategy and supports government projects in livestock, food production, and industrial modernization.

Minister Battsetseg said Mongolia values its long record of industrial cooperation with UNIDO. She noted that earlier projects helped increase technology access, improve production standards, and support industrial growth across several regions.

The agreement connects directly to two national campaigns: the White Gold initiative and the Food Supply and Security program. According to officials, the framework will help turn policy goals into measurable outcomes through targeted implementation and coordinated investment.

UNIDO representatives emphasized the growing opportunity for green industry. They said future cooperation will focus on clean technology, resource efficiency, and competitiveness for Mongolian producers entering global markets.

Mongolia aims to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on raw material exports. For that reason, the new plan includes technical training, advisory support, and sector-specific partnerships expected to strengthen domestic value chains.

Both parties agreed on regular progress reviews to ensure accountability and adjust priorities when necessary. They also highlighted that the three-year framework marks only one phase in a longer strategy for sustainable growth.

With the agreement in place, officials expressed confidence that industrial cooperation will support Mongolia’s transition toward a more modern, competitive, and resilient industrial economy.
