North Korea Demands Strict Discipline Ahead of Party Anniversary

Date:

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called for strict discipline in North Korea to eliminate actions undermining the Workers’ Party of Korea. He emphasized that party officials must maintain firm order and a strong climate of discipline. Furthermore, Kim warned against ignorance, incompetence, and irresponsibility within the party ranks. He stressed that officials should avoid self-protection, formalism, expediency, and abuse of power. These remarks came as the country prepares for the 80th anniversary of the ruling party.

Kim made the remarks during a visit to the Party Founding Museum in Pyongyang. Moreover, he urged party officials to promptly identify and remove elements that threaten the party’s leadership prestige. He highlighted the importance of changing attitudes among officials and strengthening the party’s organizational culture. Consequently, the leader instructed members to prioritize both loyalty and accountability. This approach, he said, ensures the party’s stability and authority nationwide.

Accompanying Kim were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, officials of the WPK Central Committee, and leading officials from ministries and national institutions. They observed his directives and reinforced the expectation that all party members follow strict guidelines. Analysts note that these instructions signal North Korea’s ongoing effort to consolidate internal control ahead of a major political milestone.

North Korea is preparing to celebrate the anniversary with a large-scale military parade. Senior officials from China and Russia are expected to attend, demonstrating the country’s diplomatic ties. Traditionally, Pyongyang stages military parades on party anniversaries ending in zero or five. The event aims to showcase both military strength and loyalty to the party. Observers say the parade will also underline the country’s resolve to maintain internal discipline and national unity.

Experts believe Kim’s focus on discipline reflects concerns over potential internal dissent. In addition, the call for strict discipline in North Korea highlights efforts to prevent bureaucratic inefficiency and corruption. Officials are expected to monitor lower-level cadres closely and enforce compliance with party rules. Moreover, the announcement signals continued prioritization of centralized authority within the country.

The party anniversary and associated military parade reinforce the regime’s focus on internal cohesion. As Kim pushes for strict discipline in North Korea, analysts predict the government will continue to tighten oversight. Overall, the leader’s directives aim to secure loyalty, prevent misconduct, and strengthen the party’s organizational structure.
