North Korea has ordered expanded political indoctrination to strengthen troop loyalty among units deployed to Russia. As a result, the directive targets the elite XI Corps, which supplies most overseas soldiers. According to sources in South Pyongan Province, the corps summoned senior officers to mandatory lectures on Nov. 29. At the same time, officials prepared units for upcoming winter military exercises.
The sessions followed new guidance from the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army. Consequently, commanders focused on ideological discipline and emotional control. Meanwhile, internal security officials reported rising agitation among soldiers exposed to outside information. Therefore, leadership moved quickly to prevent morale deterioration before exercises intensified.
As part of the response, the corps ordered officers to hold two political lectures weekly. In addition, commanders emphasized discipline throughout the training period. Furthermore, lecturers referenced North Korean soldiers captured by Ukrainian forces. As a result, they warned that families of prisoners would bear lifelong disgrace. Despite the intensified messaging, anxiety reportedly persists among enlisted soldiers. Nevertheless, officers continue to enforce ideological messaging during drills.
According to sources, rumors about casualties continue circulating within the corps. Consequently, fear has deepened as body bags reportedly returned from overseas deployments.
