NT$1 Trillion Robotics Output Drives Taiwan Alliance

Date:

Taiwan has taken a significant step forward by launching the Taiwan AI Robotics Industry Alliance on Tuesday. This new alliance immediately unveiled an ambitious plan to position the country as a global leader in robotics. Specifically, it aims to achieve an NT$1 trillion robotics output by 2030.

The alliance brings together six major industry groups, including the Taiwan Machine Tool and Accessory Builders’ Association and the Taiwan Intelligent Automation and Robotics Association (TAIROA). By combining their hardware and software expertise, the alliance seeks to strengthen Taiwan’s industrial ecosystem. Moreover, Chen Wen-jen, Chair of TAIROA, explained that global labor shortages and advances in AI create the perfect opportunity to expand robotics.

To accomplish its goals, the alliance outlined four main objectives. First, it plans to develop five types of domestically designed robot platforms. These platforms will include humanoid and industrial robots that serve multiple sectors. Second, it aims to build four core robotic systems: decision-making, motion control, sensing, and power management. Importantly, all of these systems will follow a “Made-in-Taiwan” framework.

Furthermore, the alliance intends to encourage AI robot adoption in eight industries. These include healthcare, caregiving, disaster response, and food service. By integrating robots into everyday operations, the alliance expects to boost local demand. At the same time, this strategy will enhance Taiwan’s export competitiveness.

In addition, the alliance’s launch came just after the government approved a national smart robotics program in May. Consequently, this government backing further strengthens Taiwan’s commitment to robotics innovation. Therefore, the alliance and government efforts together aim to drive strong growth in the sector.

Overall, the alliance has a clear vision to surpass an NT$1 trillion robotics output value by 2030. With unified industry collaboration and focused investment, Taiwan is set to become a major robotics powerhouse. Thus, it plans to lead the global robotics market through innovation and strategic planning.
