Faizali Idizoda, Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandogon—the Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament—recently paid a courtesy visit to Mongolia’s President, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa. This important meeting happened during President Ukhnaa’s State Visit to Tajikistan. The visit marked a key moment in boosting Tajikistan-Mongolia cooperation and enhancing diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Ukhnaa highlighted Mongolia’s strong interest in building close relations with Tajikistan. He described Tajikistan as a vital regional partner with longstanding friendly ties. During the State Visit, more than ten agreements were signed. These agreements cover many areas, such as the economy, agriculture, industry, digital development, culture, and tourism.
The President also expressed his satisfaction with a Joint Declaration on Cooperation signed alongside Tajikistan’s President, Emomali Rahmon. This declaration outlines a long-term vision for bilateral cooperation and friendship. In turn, Speaker Faizali Idizoda emphasized the importance of President Ukhnaa’s first State Visit to Tajikistan. He said the Parliament would prioritize efforts to strengthen the bond between the peoples of both countries. Idizoda also announced the formation of a Tajikistan-Mongolia Parliamentary Friendship Group within the Lower Chamber. The group’s main goal is to promote active interparliamentary dialogue and collaboration.According to the Speaker, this friendship group will serve as a key platform for maintaining steady relations and expanding cooperation.
The Parliament of Tajikistan, called the Majlisi Oli, consists of two chambers. The Higher Chamber, Majlisi Milli, has 33 members, while the Lower Chamber, Majlisi Namoyandogon, has 63 members. Members serve five-year terms. This bicameral structure allows for comprehensive legislative work supporting national and international objectives. Overall, Tajikistan-Mongolia cooperation continues to grow through high-level visits and parliamentary initiatives.
