President Khurelsukh Meets Mongolian Scholarship Students Studying in Czech Republic

Date:

President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa recently met with Mongolian students studying at universities in the Czech Republic as recipients of the “President’s Scholar – 2100” Scholarship Program.

Currently, 29 Mongolian students are enrolled under this program in the Czech Republic. Eight of these students are studying civil engineering and computer science at the Technical University of Prague, while 21 others are undertaking Czech language courses at Charles University’s Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies in Poděbrady. These students will begin their primary studies in nuclear engineering, computer science, food quality and security, and statistics starting this autumn.

Four additional students who have been studying in Germany for over a year under the same scholarship program also participated in the meeting, and were recognized by university administrators for their exceptional academic achievements.

During the meeting, President Khurelsukh encouraged the scholarship recipients to honor the trust placed in them by the Mongolian people. He emphasized that their diligent studies abroad would significantly contribute to the future development and prosperity of Mongolia. He also expressed confidence in their potential to become future leaders.

Furthermore, Mongolia and the Czech Republic announced that annual summer courses focused on linguistics and literature would be organized to enhance short-term training opportunities and cultural exchanges between students, educators, and researchers from both nations.

In the current 2023–2024 academic year, over 120 Mongolian students are pursuing their studies at various Czech universities and colleges.

Additionally, academic cooperation between Mongolia and the Czech Republic continues to grow. The National University of Mongolia (NUM) began training specialists in Czech studies and international relations as early as 1992. With support from the Czech Development Agency, the Czech Studies Center at NUM was renovated in 2006–2007, providing essential resources such as textbooks, manuals, and experienced faculty. Since 2023, a Czech language teacher has been employed within the Department of Slavic Studies at NUM, further enriching academic ties between the two countries.
