Samsung’s Foldable Sales Surge Signals Market Shift in South Korea

Date:

Samsung launched its new Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 across South Korea, marking a milestone in mobile innovation. These models achieved record-breaking performance in preorder numbers. Samsung received over 1.04 million orders during the seven-day reservation window. This figure set a new benchmark for foldable smartphone sales in the country. The demand surpassed all previous Galaxy Z series records.

Foldable smartphone sales surged by 14 percent compared to last year’s Flip6 and Fold6 releases. The increase translates to 130,000 more devices sold in the same preorder period. The shift reflects growing interest from tech-savvy consumers. In addition, Samsung attributed this rise to improved design, performance, and user experience. The company noted that customer interest is stronger than ever.

For the first time in Galaxy foldable history, the Fold model outsold the Flip version. The sales ratio favored the Fold7 by 60 to 40. This marked a turning point in user preferences. Samsung positioned the Fold7 as its thinnest and lightest foldable yet. It weighs only 215 grams and folds down to 8.9 millimeters in thickness.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 focuses on one-hand usability and compact design. It features a 4.1-inch cover display with ultra-slim 1.25mm bezels. These enhancements improve both portability and visual clarity. However, consumers now choose foldables for convenience and premium design. These traits help set the Z Flip7 apart from conventional smartphones.

Foldable smartphone sales also benefited from the simultaneous release of the Galaxy Watch8 series. The smartwatches come with a dynamic lug system, a better running coach, and sleep stress monitoring. These features improve daily wellness tracking for users. Samsung designed the Watch8 series to seamlessly connect with the new foldables. This strengthens its broader Galaxy ecosystem strategy.

Younger customers drove much of the demand during the preorder phase. Samsung revealed that over half of buyers were in their teens, 20s, and 30s. This group values sleek design, mobility, and high-tech features. The company sees them as long-term brand advocates. They continue to embrace Samsung’s innovations more than older demographics.

In conclusion, Samsung emphasized that the Z Fold7 and Flip7 represent the pinnacle of its foldable technology. It views these models as the next step in mobile performance and design. Nevertheless, the Galaxy lineup now holds a stronger position in the premium smartphone market. Samsung believes foldables will continue reshaping the future of mobile devices. The company remains committed to expanding this product line globally.
