SBS has released the first poster for its highly anticipated fantasy historical romantic comedy, The Haunted Palace. The drama promises to be a captivating mix of folklore, romance, and supernatural intrigue, centered around the legend of the Eight Feet Tall spirit, a female shaman, and an Imugi.
In Korean mythology, an Imugi is a mythical creature that spends a thousand years submerged in water, transforming into a dragon once it acquires the Yeouiju, a magical jewel. The drama follows the story of this creature’s struggle and its connection to a kingdom.
BTOB’s Yook Sungjae stars as Yoon Gap, a loyal subject favored by the king and the first love of Yeo Ri, played by WJSN’s Bona. Yoon Gap’s life takes a dramatic turn when he is possessed by the Imugi spirit, also known as Gang Cheol Yi. Bona’s character, Yeo Ri, a woman who rejects her destiny as a shaman in favor of a simpler life as a skilled artisan specializing in eyeglasses, finds herself drawn into an unexpected romance when the Imugi inhabits the body of her first love.
The newly released poster highlights the chemistry between Yoon Gap and Yeo Ri, depicting them walking through a flower-filled field under the warm light of spring. The characters are dressed in traditional hanbok attire, radiating elegance and affection. However, one of the most intriguing elements of the poster is the Imugi’s tail, which emerges from beneath Yoon Gap’s robe, hinting at the mystical presence that lurks within him. True to the myth, the Imugi’s shimmering tail reflects the creature’s long training to become a dragon, adding an air of mystery to the story.
With its compelling storyline and visual allure, The Haunted Palace sets the stage for a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and the clash between humanity and the supernatural.
