Sheng Feng Qi Shi Captures Resilience in 1990s China

Date:

Guan Xiaotong and Wang Ziqi have now finished filming Sheng Feng Qi Shi, a drama set in a northern Chinese factory town in the 1990s. The series, directed by Lin Yan and written by Qian Jingjing, therefore explores resilience, identity, and transformation during social upheaval. Sheng Feng Qi Shi centers on a community navigating the friction between tradition and rapid industrial change. Consequently, viewers will witness stories of perseverance, love, and individual growth across class and generational lines. Through every scene, Sheng Feng Qi Shi consistently emphasizes how adversity shapes the human spirit.

Meanwhile, Guan Xiaotong plays Qi Shi, a young woman born with albinism and long dismissed by her family and peers. Nevertheless, she channels her pain into ambition, eventually building her own business empire. Her path, therefore, offers a striking narrative of triumph over exclusion and personal transformation. In contrast, Wang Ziqi portrays Cao Xin, a privileged young man who finds himself suffocating under the weight of expectation. Notably, his unraveling mirrors the quiet collapse of old values in a time of national change.

Together, Qi Shi and Cao Xin represent two sides of a generation shaped by China’s transition in the 1990s. As a result, their interactions expose the widening gap between outward success and internal struggle. The drama unfolds within a gritty, working-class neighborhood, where factory sirens echo both opportunity and sacrifice. In this context, Sheng Feng Qi Shi uses its setting to show how modernization forces every character to confront who they truly are.

Moreover, producer Gong Yu and co-producer Liu Tao worked closely with the creative team to build an emotionally grounded series. Additionally, supporting cast members include Guo Xiaodong, Liu Lin, Guo Tao, and Zou Yuanqing, all adding layers to the richly woven world. From the writing to the performances, every aspect, in turn, supports the emotional weight of Sheng Feng Qi Shi. As anticipation builds for its release, audiences can therefore expect a drama that honors everyday resilience with sincerity and depth.
