Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has joined forces with AUO Display Plus. Together, they plan to create AI-powered mixed reality displays that blend digital and physical environments. This partnership brings together ITRI’s advanced AI capabilities and AUO Display Plus’ strengths in display integration. ITRI will contribute its AI mixed reality technology to the project. This system includes real-time visual sensing and object recognition. A built-in camera captures the surroundings. Then, the system processes the data to detect people and objects. As a result, it adapts content based on the real-time environment.
AUO Display Plus adds its expertise in precision optoelectronics and systems integration. This combination aims to deliver AI-powered mixed reality displays that respond intelligently to changing settings. The displays will allow users to interact through gestures, making experiences more dynamic and engaging. At the core of the technology is a new projection module. This module delivers high-resolution visuals while keeping the real-world view intact. Users will see virtual images overlaid seamlessly onto the physical space. This improves immersion but maintains awareness of the surrounding environment.
AUO CEO Ko Fu-jen said demand is rising for smart, context-aware displays. He believes AUO Display Plus can lead the commercialization process quickly. He pointed out that companies now want displays that do more than just show images. Ko also highlighted several use cases for AI-powered mixed reality displays. These include retail stores, hospitals, classrooms, and enterprise environments. Each sector can benefit from enhanced interactivity and smarter content delivery.
Both companies see global opportunities. They aim to expand internationally by offering solutions for smart environments. Their focus lies in merging artificial intelligence with advanced visual technologies. This will help users interact naturally with their digital surroundings. With their combined strengths, ITRI and AUO Display Plus aim to shape the future of immersive displays.
