Yongin City unveiled the South Korea semiconductor map Monday. It showcases the city’s growing chip cluster. Additionally, the map helps residents and investors understand the rapidly developing semiconductor ecosystem. Officials said it shows how projects connect. It also explains why they matter nationally.
Mayor Lee Sang-il emphasized last month that residents should grasp the projects’ structure and importance. Therefore, the Yongin semiconductor map highlights major hubs. These include the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster. It also shows the Yongin Semiconductor general industrial complex. Another hub is Samsung Electronics’ Giheung Future Research Complex.
A city official said the South Korea semiconductor map provides detailed information for residents and investors. Users can view company locations, facility images, addresses, and main production items. Moreover, the map guides domestic and foreign firms. They can use it when considering investment in Yongin.
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are leading the projects. They have a combined planned investment of 1,000 trillion won, roughly 750 billion dollars. SK hynix is building the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster general industrial complex with 600 trillion won. Samsung Electronics is advancing the 360 trillion won advanced system semiconductor national industrial complex. As a result, the South Korea semiconductor map shows these developments. Investors can track their locations easily.
Meanwhile, suppliers of materials, parts, and equipment are joining the chip cluster. About 90 semiconductor materials and equipment firms have settled in or confirmed plans. Since 2023, roughly 700 small and startup companies have set up operations in Yongin. The chip cluster map in South Korea shows their geographic distribution.
The projects will boost construction and service sector jobs in the short term. Over the medium and long term, the city expects a shift toward high-value positions in manufacturing and advanced services. Furthermore, the South Korea semiconductor map tracks company locations. It also supports urban planning. Officials can use it for investment decisions.
The mayor stressed that the city is ready for the cluster’s scale. For example, the city will construct new highways. Officials will roll out water and power supplies in phases. Water distribution will reach key areas by 2031 and 2035. Power is included in the national electricity plan. Officials will build new plants and transmission infrastructure. Additionally, the semiconductor map in Yongin shows these plans alongside company locations.
In the future, the semiconductor map in South Korea could guide investment decisions and urban planning. Analysts said the map may attract more companies. Residents can follow the city’s transformation into a high-tech hub. Finally, the projects signal South Korea’s continued push to strengthen its position in global semiconductor manufacturing.
