The Squid Game parade lit up central Seoul on Saturday night with towering installations and vivid reenactments. The event, jointly organized by Netflix and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, celebrated the final season of the global hit series.
The Squid Game parade began around 7:50 p.m. along Sejong-daero, stretching from Gwanghwamun to Seoul Plaza. The road closed temporarily to make space for the festivities. Despite the heat and occasional bugs, thousands of fans filled the streets.
Leading the spectacle was a towering replica of the character Young-hee, followed by other signature props. A giant piggy bank, symbolic O and X signs, and floating bubbles highlighted key elements from the show. Actors dressed as players performed scenes from the second season, including the “Mingle” game.
Then, a marching band dressed in pink guard uniforms played music from the soundtrack. They accompanied floats like the one representing the “Round and Round” game.
After reaching Seoul Plaza, the event transitioned to a fan gathering. There, cast members from all three seasons appeared on stage for a live talk. Season 1 favorites like Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, and Lee Yoo-mi joined new stars such as T.O.P and Im Si-wan. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and lead actors Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun also participated.
The discussion offered fans behind-the-scenes stories. Hwang revealed games he had originally planned to include, such as hopscotch. He described mixed emotions about ending the series, saying the project had weighed heavily on him for years.
The Squid Game parade concluded with a media facade projecting iconic visuals on the Seoul Metropolitan Library. International fans at the venue scanned QR codes to follow live subtitles.
Through this grand celebration, Seoul honored the show’s impact on global culture. The Squid Game parade captured the energy and emotion of a story that resonated worldwide.
