Taipei is rapidly becoming a major destination for contemporary art this fall. The much-anticipated Art Taipei fair and the expanded Taipei Art Week will take place simultaneously, creating a lively celebration of creativity. Together, these events highlight the strength and diversity of the Taipei art scene.
Art Taipei, organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association, will open at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 from October 24 to 27. VIP previews will run on October 23 and 24. This year’s theme, “intersect: diversity equals togetherness,” perfectly captures Taiwan’s inclusive approach to art and culture. It encourages connection and unity within the Taipei art scene.
This year, Art Taipei will showcase 128 galleries from six countries and regions. Notably, 72 Taiwanese galleries will present their work, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting local artists. Moreover, renowned international galleries such as De Sarthe, Perrotin, and Scai the Bathhouse will participate. Their presence will deepen the connection between the local arts community and international visitors. In doing so, they will help position Taipei as a vital center for global art exchange.
Taipei Art Week will run from October 18 through November 2. Building on last year’s success, this edition has expanded significantly. It now includes eight major exhibition zones alongside eight thematic projects. As a result, the city will transform into an enormous cultural canvas.
The event involves collaboration with over 70 galleries, museums, art institutions, and artist studios. This broad participation will attract both residents and international guests. One standout feature is the International Forum. It will gather leaders from prominent global institutions, including Alexandra Munroe of the Guggenheim, Pi Li from Tai Kwun Contemporary, and Emily Pethick of the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Their insights promise to enrich the Taipei art scene further.
Additionally, Taipei Art Week will host “The Collector Circle,” a program designed to facilitate a Tri-Regional Collector Exchange. This initiative will connect new-generation collectors from East Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond, fostering collaboration and growth.
For the first time, Taipei Art Week will offer art bus city tours. These themed routes will link key cultural spots across Taipei. They aim to turn everyday city exploration into an immersive journey through contemporary artistic expression.
