Date:

Taipei best city for US digital nomads, according to a recent ranking by a global eSIM provider. Holafly, a Dublin-based company, evaluated cities worldwide to find ideal remote work destinations for US passport holders.

The firm released its list on Thursday, focusing on important factors such as visa policies, mobile internet speeds, internet costs, utility bills, rent, and healthcare. Taipei emerged as the top city with an overall score of 73.9, praised for its balance of lifestyle and work productivity.

Alongside Taipei, Bangkok and Prague ranked second and third, respectively. These cities stood out due to their visa-friendly regulations, quality healthcare systems, affordable living costs, and support for remote workers.

Following the top three, Amsterdam ranked fourth, while Dubai, Madrid, Vienna, Phuket, Pattaya, and Osaka rounded out the top ten. All ten destinations allow US travelers to enter visa-free for at least 60 days. This policy offers great flexibility for those seeking short- to mid-term stays abroad.

Taipei’s appeal lies in its affordable cost of living and excellent healthcare, which Holafly highlighted. Additionally, the city offers fast and low-cost internet, though it has fewer coworking spaces compared to some competitors. Despite this, Taipei’s growing remote work culture continues to attract digital nomads.

In terms of housing, the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Taipei’s city center stood at NT$48,838 (about US$1,670). This rent ranks as the fifth-lowest among 15 surveyed cities. Utility costs also remain budget-friendly, with Taiwan’s monthly average of NT$2,457 placing third cheapest.

Transportation expenses further add to Taipei’s financial appeal. A single public transit ticket costs just NT$24, ranking third lowest. Taxi fares are also affordable, at NT$39 on average, making daily commuting easy and economical.

In conclusion, Taipei best city for US digital nomads offers a well-rounded environment. Its combination of visa ease, affordable living, good healthcare, and reliable internet makes it a smart choice for remote workers.
