Taiwan baseball ranks second in the latest men’s rankings from the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The updated standings, released Thursday, reflect changes across the top 12, but Taiwan has kept its place behind only Japan.
Japan remains the top-ranked team with 6,843 points, maintaining a comfortable lead over its rivals. Taiwan, however, holds second with 5,147 points. This strong ranking follows a series of consistent international performances, including a landmark victory in the 2023 Premier12 tournament.
Taiwan earned 1,380 points from that tournament alone — the highest single-event points gain in WBSC history. That historic win boosted Taiwan into second place late last year, narrowing the gap with Japan to just over 1,300 points. Although the gap has slightly widened due to recent adjustments, Taiwan baseball ranks second with a significant margin over third place.
The United States climbed two spots to third, now sitting at 4,591 points. Their rise pushed Mexico and South Korea down the rankings. South Korea rebounded and also moved up two places, now ranking fourth with 4,283 points. Mexico, previously in third, dropped to fifth after recent results, scoring 3,926 points.
Other teams are not far behind. Venezuela takes sixth with 3,885 points, closely trailing Mexico. Puerto Rico follows in seventh place with 3,081 points, and the Netherlands sits just behind with 3,040. Panama ranks ninth with 2,801 points.
Rounding out the top twelve are the Dominican Republic in tenth place with 2,511 points, Australia in eleventh with 2,446, and Cuba in twelfth with 2,308. Taiwan baseball ranks second because of its disciplined approach, player development, and tactical consistency. The team’s coaching staff has focused on long-term growth, and that strategy continues to pay off.
Although Japan holds the top spot, Taiwan has established itself as a world baseball powerhouse. Taiwan baseball ranks second, but its ambitions clearly aim higher. The Premier12 victory proved the team’s ability to perform under pressure and defeat top-tier nations.
As international baseball competition grows tighter, Taiwan’s challenge now is to maintain momentum and prepare for future global tournaments. Fans remain hopeful that Taiwan baseball ranks second today — but may rise even higher tomorrow.
