Taiwan-Japan Ties Strengthened by LDP Youth Visit

Date:

A delegation of Japanese lawmakers from the Youth Division of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) arrived in Taiwan on Sunday. This visit highlights the importance of Taiwan-Japan ties. Led by Nakasone Yasutaka, the group includes over 70 members, four of whom currently serve in the Japanese Diet. They plan to stay in Taiwan until August 20.

During their visit, the delegation will meet with several top Taiwanese officials. Nakasone and the other lawmakers are scheduled to meet President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim. In addition, they will hold discussions with Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung, and National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu. These meetings aim to deepen Taiwan-Japan ties and explore issues of mutual interest.

Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warmly welcomed the delegation. The ministry emphasized that this visit shows Japan’s strong commitment to maintaining close Taiwan-Japan ties. Since 1967, the LDP Youth Division has played a key role in fostering dialogue and exchange between Taiwan and Japan. They organize annual visits to promote communication on regional security and economic cooperation.

Earlier this year, Nakasone led a similar delegation to Taiwan. During that visit, he advocated for increased collaboration on maritime security and healthcare. This current trip builds on those efforts and further demonstrates the importance of Taiwan-Japan ties in the region.

Furthermore, the LDP Youth Division serves as a vital bridge connecting young leaders from both countries. Their ongoing engagement encourages open dialogue and cooperation on challenges faced by Taiwan and Japan. The delegation’s presence in Taiwan reaffirms the shared commitment to strengthening these ties.

In conclusion, this visit by Japanese LDP Youth Division lawmakers symbolizes a growing partnership. By engaging directly with Taiwanese leaders, they aim to reinforce Taiwan-Japan ties and address regional issues together. The delegation’s efforts reflect the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
