Taiwan Strengthens Educational Cooperation with Vietnam

Date:

Taiwan and Vietnam have taken a major step to deepen their educational ties. On Friday, representatives from both countries signed a new agreement to enhance educational cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam. This updated pact builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2017. It reflects changes in the global landscape and the practical needs of both nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) shared that Taiwan’s representative to Vietnam, Liu Shih-chung, and Vietnam’s representative to Taiwan, Phan Kieu Chung, officially signed the agreement. The revised document covers many areas, including education, academic research, language exchange, and talent cultivation. These sectors will serve as the foundation for deeper collaboration and more extensive exchanges.

This agreement sets the stage for a stronger partnership that benefits students, educators, and researchers alike. Taiwan plans to continue promoting cooperation and exchanges with Vietnam in various fields. Both countries recognize the value of fostering young talents and increasing cultural understanding through educational cooperation.

By the end of 2024, nearly 40,000 Vietnamese students studied in Taiwan. Liu Shih-chung noted that this number makes Vietnamese students the largest group of international learners in Taiwan. This impressive figure highlights the importance of educational cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam, as well as the strong people-to-people connections that support it.

Furthermore, the agreement encourages joint academic projects and expands opportunities for language learning. Taiwan and Vietnam aim to create more programs that enable students and scholars to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop new knowledge. These efforts will help both countries adapt to global trends and boost innovation.

Educational cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam also contributes to broader diplomatic and economic relations. Closer academic ties can lead to partnerships beyond education, including trade and technology sectors. Both governments see the agreement as a way to foster mutual growth and friendship.

In summary, the newly signed agreement marks a significant milestone in the educational cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam. It builds on past achievements and offers a clear roadmap for the future. Both countries are dedicated to strengthening their educational connections, ensuring benefits for generations to come.
