MIAT Mongolian Airlines will launch its new Ulaanbaatar–Singapore flight on November 4, 2025, marking a major step in expanding Mongolia’s air connectivity. The airline confirmed its readiness during a recent briefing by the Minister of Road and Transport on October 27.
According to MIAT CEO Munkhtamir Batbayar, the addition of the Ulaanbaatar–Singapore flight strengthens the airline’s growing international network. He explained that MIAT currently operates flights to 14 international and eight domestic destinations, averaging ten flights per day.
During the summer, MIAT increases operations to 25–30 daily flights to meet tourism demand. However, as the airline recently switched to its winter schedule, frequencies to some routes have been reduced. “Flights to Seoul now run twice daily, totaling 14 per week,” said Munkhtamir.
The upcoming Ulaanbaatar–Singapore flight will become MIAT’s 15th international destination. As of late October, the airline had completed 3,526 flights this year, transporting 983,000 passengers—an increase of 2.7 percent compared with the same period in 2024. Cargo operations have also remained steady, with 8,579 tons of goods moved since January.
Moreover, Munkhtamir emphasized that the new route will enhance trade, tourism, and business links between Mongolia and Southeast Asia. Singapore’s position as a global aviation hub offers Mongolian travelers greater access to international connections and investment opportunities.
Industry observers see the move as a strategic milestone for MIAT, aligning with Mongolia’s broader push to diversify its transport and tourism sectors. The route will also help attract inbound tourists from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
During the briefing, the Ministry of Road and Transport also announced upcoming changes at Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Beginning January 1, 2026, fees for takeoff, landing, and related services will increase under a bilateral concession agreement. The current rate of MNT 17,000 will rise to USD 18 next year.
Officials explained that the adjustment reflects global aviation trends and aims to improve airport infrastructure and service quality.
As MIAT continues expanding its international network, the airline plans to explore new routes across Asia and Europe. The Ulaanbaatar–Singapore flight marks a promising step toward deeper regional integration and sustainable growth in Mongolia’s aviation industry.
