LG Energy Solution, a major South Korean battery producer, announced that it will restart business trips to the United States. The decision comes after a pause caused by the detention of dozens of employees in Georgia. The company now seeks to normalize travel while ensuring safety and compliance. The United States business trips mark an important step in stabilizing joint operations.
The company suspended all travel after 47 staff members and around 250 subcontractor workers were detained. Authorities conducted an immigration raid at the site of a Hyundai Motor–LG Energy Solution battery plant project. As a result, the firm immediately froze all travel to the country. However, after further talks between Seoul and Washington, the restrictions eased.
A working group recently clarified what activities business visitors can perform. Officials agreed that B-1 short-term visa holders may handle investment-related tasks. These include installing equipment, servicing machines, and carrying out repairs. Moreover, workers entering under the ESTA program may also conduct similar duties. Consequently, this clarification created new confidence for the company.
The United States business trips will resume gradually, according to LG Energy Solution. The firm explained that employee safety remains its top priority. Therefore, it will continue to offer systemic support for workers traveling abroad. At the same time, it will coordinate with authorities to prevent future disruptions.
LG Energy Solution already operates or builds seven plants across the United States. Therefore, smooth cooperation between South Korean and U.S. partners remains vital. The company emphasized that these factories represent a key part of its global growth. Furthermore, the firm confirmed its plans to maintain strong relationships with automakers and customers.
Executives also reassured partners about their commitment to trust and stability. “We will do our best to secure safe conditions for travel,” one statement explained. The company also highlighted that it will work hard to normalize construction efforts in the U.S. As a result, the United States business trips will once again support ongoing battery plant projects.
The announcement highlights how crucial the U.S. market is for South Korean firms. Additionally, it underscores how cooperation between both governments helps resolve business challenges. Ultimately, LG Energy Solution aims to reinforce its reputation as a reliable global battery leader.
