South Korea’s LG Electronics has entered a clean energy partnership with the UK’s Octopus Energy to expand sustainable solutions across Europe. This agreement signals a strategic step by LG to strengthen its global presence while advancing South Korea’s leadership in clean technology.
The clean energy partnership will combine LG Electronics’ high-efficiency heat pumps with Octopus Energy’s Kraken platform. Kraken uses artificial intelligence to manage energy consumption and optimize costs. Together, these technologies will lower energy bills and reduce carbon emissions for European households.
LG’s heat pumps reuse waste heat from the surrounding environment, delivering greater efficiency than traditional fossil-fuel systems. At the same time, Kraken provides real-time renewable energy price data, enabling customers to choose affordable and greener power. This combination highlights South Korea’s drive to export innovation in clean energy.
Furthermore, the clean energy partnership emphasizes customer value. By linking hardware and software, households can achieve reliable heating and cooling while cutting expenses. Transitioning to this integrated solution also supports Europe’s climate objectives and accelerates the region’s move toward renewable energy.
The companies will first launch the service in the UK and Germany. After establishing a solid presence, they will expand further into other European markets. This phased strategy allows LG to scale its cleantech business globally while showcasing South Korea’s advanced technology capabilities.
Greg Jackson, founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, said the combination of LG’s heat pumps with Kraken will reduce heating costs and protect the environment. His comments underline the practical benefits of this cooperation for households.
Yoon Tae-bong, executive vice president of LG Electronics’ overseas sales and marketing division, called the partnership a key moment for LG’s cleantech business. He stressed that LG will secure sustainable growth by delivering differentiated services in global markets.
South Korea continues to strengthen its position as a leader in advanced energy solutions. By driving this clean energy partnership, LG Electronics not only expands its European influence but also highlights the nation’s broader push for sustainable innovation. With energy costs and climate challenges growing, this partnership places South Korea at the center of Europe’s clean energy transition.
